Multiple Carriers have now Moved to Mandatory Generic Drugs

Greenshield Canada, Empire Life, Encon, Desjardins, Equitable,Great-West Life, Manulife, Pacific Blue Cross,Sun Life, and Standard Life are some of the many insurance providers ENCOMPASS works with, and have all confirmed that their Extended Health Plans are moving to Mandatory Generic Substitution.  This drug plan allows brand only when it is proven to be medically necessary and not simple when a doctor check off “brand only” on the prescription.  Changes are happening at either the annual renewal times or at a single date for all policies.  Check with your Consultant if you have any questions.

This move is consistent with the industry direction for helping  clients manage their benefit costs.
