Ahhh the new year in the Okanagan. A time for resolutions, new beginnings, new projects…and for all Canadians: changes to EI, CPP and RRSP maximums.

Effective January 1, 2011, the Canadian Revenue Agency changed the maximums as follows:

Employment Insurance – the maximum employer contribution is $1,101.46, the maximum employee contribution is $786.76.  At the rate of $1.78, the maximum annual insurable earnings are $44,200.  This increase will support the increase in the weekly EI benefit from $457 to $468.

Canada Pension Plan – the maximum employee contribution is $2,217.60.  At the rate of 4.95, the maximum annual contributory earnings are $44,800.

Registered Retirment Savings Plan – the contribution limit for 2011 is $22,450.  Contributions towards the 2010 limit can be made until March 1, 2010.
